Teachers Transform lives

In the decade of the 1960s, an 8–9-year-old shy and introvert boy joined View Ridge Elementary school in America. He kept all his emotions to himself and always remained silent. In the same school, there was a librarian named Blanche Caffiere. She found something interesting about the boy and started guiding him by asking him simple questions and arousing the interest of reading books in him. Her guidance motivated the boy to a great extent that would one day change the world forever. When that introvert boy became successful, he wrote about his teacher in his personal online diary.

He wrote-

“When I first met Mrs. Caffiere, she was the elegant and engaging school librarian at Seattle’s View Ridge Elementary, and I was a timid fourth grader. I was desperately trying to go unnoticed, because I had some big deficits, like atrocious handwriting … and I was trying to hide the fact that I liked to read. Mrs. Caffiere took me under her wing and helped make it okay for me to be a messy, nerdy boy who was reading lots of books.

She pulled me out of my shell by sharing her love of books. She started by asking questions like, “What do you like to read?” and “What are you interested in?” Then she found me a lot of books. Once I’d read them, she would make the time to discuss them with me. “Did you like it?” she would ask. “Why? What did you learn?” She genuinely listened to what I had to say and I must say, she is a teacher who CHANGED MY LIFE.

That timid boy is none other than Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world. Even now he thanks his teacher, Mrs. Caffiere for helping him escape his timidity that turned into a strong foundation for his magnificent life.

Indeed, if a teacher or Guru takes genuine interest in you, no one can stop you from achieving a great height in life. And therefore, in our country we give a great importance to teachers and celebrate Teachers’ Day on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great philosopher and academician Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The day commemorates the contribution made by teachers to the society.

A Teacher’s Care is Imperative

Understand that in every person’s life, a guiding light in the form of a Guru is crucial; one person who can encourage and keep motivating his disciples to move forward in life despite difficulties. In fact, a Guru is more powerful than a mother or father because most of the times, a Guru is a stranger who gives a fresh start to your life.

He tells you to maintain a balance in your materialistic endeavours and also guides how to maintain love and harmony in the family. He shows how you can utilize your energy properly, and suggests ways to maintain a calm mind. He guides how you can fill your heart with immense love for others and guides your soul to receive blessings through devotion and also guides you to give it back to society.

Whether it is your academic life or spiritual life, a Guru helps you reach a place which is commendable and recognizable.

How Teachers Change Lives

They Teach

Education plays a key role in any society’s progress. When people are learned, they can contribute to their families and society in a better way creating a stable and progressive society. And you cannot imagine education without the presence of teachers in various institutions. Can you?

They dedicate their time and efforts to ensure a student’s academic success. With their skills, teachers keep students challenged and focused on the path of success.

They Inspire

In their initial years, children spend most of their fruitful time in the presence of a teacher. Most of the times, it is a teacher who motivates them to work harder and pursue a definite aim to become successful in life. They inspire them ensuring their success and encourage them to completely utilize their potential.

With the power of inspiration, students touch amazing heights in life and that motivation stays with them forever. That’s why many working professionals do not forget to cite a particular teacher as the one who motivated or inspired them and attribute their achievements to that teacher.

They Guide

Moreover, teachers also act as a trusted source of wisdom for students when it comes to take important life decisions. They inculcate important life values in students, including truth, honesty, and compassion. They guide them on the path of social responsibility as well. They help them understand the significance of charitable works for helping the less privileged people and help them overcome suffering and poverty.

Who can forget the philanthropic endeavours of Savitribai Phule, who is regarded as the first female teacher of India. Her charity works have inspired generations of students to participate in social activities and donate generously to bring positive changes in the lives of the marginalized and under-privileged.

Hence, it is said, teachers change lives at different dimensions. They teach, inspire, guide and enable positive changes at the personal and societal level.

So, on this teacher’s day reflect on the positive influence of teachers who helped shape your personality and helped you succeed in life. Commemorate the day by strengthening your respect towards your Gurus and moving consistently on the path shown by them.

A Very Happy Teachers’ Day!
