How to Overcome the Emotion of Disliking Others

In a cosmos that is incredibly filled with God’s love, there should be no space for dislike. But like other emotions, disagreement, or dislike for someone is also a part of a human personality. Everybody at some point of time feels like disliking someone, especially if they have been treated poorly by these people. But still, many people wish they could stop detesting others as they understand that doing so brings unhappiness and unrest.

The negative emotion of hate influences the body, mind, behavior, and overall well-being of a person in an undesirable manner. One negative thought leads into another and if not curbed initially it can have grave consequences. It is thus always better to stop this feeling of dislike from arising in the first place.

But how?

Start with Self-Love

Whenever you experience the emotion of detestation and want to stop it, start with self-love. You may practice mindful meditation, exercises, and self-compassion to show your love towards yourself. When you love yourself truly, you will love others too and will not criticize them.

Communicate

If someone hurts you in some way, do not stay silent rather consider having a dialogue with the other person. Communication can resolve a lot of issues. You may forgive the fellow person after learning about his/her point of view. So, there is absolutely no harm in talking about it and it is always beneficial to forgive with a gentle heart.

Doubt Your Belief

At times, you, your perspective, and your total belief system could be wrong. So, before deciding to dislike someone, pause for a moment and consider whether your thought about the other person is correct. Try to falsify your own belief and doubt it. Think rationally and you will be able to develop neutral thoughts in your mind. From here, the hatred that lies in you may start vanishing forever as now you are not judging anyone with a bias.

Sometimes, Just Be Kind

Kindness fills the mind with ultimate peace and happiness, leaving no space for hatred towards anyone. Indeed, kind people just stand out in the crowd. Their persona, attitude, vibes, and charm are way different from others. They shine like a diamond. And so, consider engaging in an intentional act of kindness toward those you tend to dislike.

So just remember, you are the decision-maker and you have total control over all your emotions. If you really want, you may stop a spark of animosity morphing itself into a concrete thought. Think rationally, communicate, love yourself and be kind towards others. Focus on the positive traits of others and train your mind to ignore the emotion of disliking others. This is essential for a peaceful life and cordial relationships.
